We’ve teamed up with Nashville indie record store, Grimey’s, to offer a chance to win a pair of tickets to see us play with Kings Of Leon. If you have not been able to grab tickets to the Mother/Father, White Lies, Kings Of Leon show, which happens October 16th at the Sommet Center in Nashville, head down to Grimey’s today to enter to win a pair of tickets. Entry ballots are right by the front door (or just ask the Grimey’s staff).

We will be drawing for the winner on October 15th at our in-store performance at 6pm. You must be present to win, so make sure you come down to catch the in-store (and add yourself to our Facebook event).

Friday, October 16th: Mother/Father, White Lies, Kings Of Leon at the Sommet Center 7:30pm

Check our Tour page for full details of both shows.

This is all coming up soon-nine days away! Looking forward to seeing you guys.

We’re playing with Kings Of Leon on Oct 16th

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

We’ve got a lot constant developments in the works, and today we would like to share with you the news of our next Nashville show, which we’re about a month away from (if you’re a subscriber to Light Thieves, our newsletter, then you already know about this).

Kings Of Leon

Mother/Father will be playing with Kings Of Leon and White Lies at the Sommet Center when they come to Nashville.

If you’re already coming out to the show, go ahead and add yourself to the Facebook invite we put together. Make sure you get there early enough to catch the very special set the band is putting together just for this show. We want to make sure we get to connect with our hometown-and nearby-fans to share this important milestone.

To view full details of the show and to purchase tickets, click on over to the Tour Page, as some tickets may still be available through Ticketmaster, or the box office at the Sommet Center.

Forthcoming Release

In the meantime, we’re continuing work on our next release. In between multiple tours this summer, we’ve been constantly working on a new batch of recordings. We’ve nailed down some mixing dates with Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Norah Jones, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse), and will be able to wrap up the project towards the end of this month.

We can’t put an official release date out quite yet, but stay tuned to this blog by subscribing to the RSS feed. Also, make sure you’re signed up for our newsletter, Light Thieves. The blog and newsletter are the most official and timely places to find out about Mother/Father developments as they happen.

A post overdue, and a Nashville show this Friday

Monday, September 7th, 2009

We’ve all been trying to find time to drop in between all the developments that are keeping us busy at the moment. There is lots going on…

In any case, the band is back from their first, and successful, west coast tour. I was able to personally attend the Tucson, LA, and Seattle shows, and it was a blast! I can confidently say from a first person perspective that Mother/Father fans not only really enjoy music, but also outwardly express their appreciation for music in a way that is truly engaged. The energy at these shows was intense! You guys make it fun like it’s supposed to be.

Upon returning home there’s been no time to slow down. We’ve already gotten busy planning what’s next, starting with the first Mother/Father show in Nashville since playing last May with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

September 11th Show Poster
Friday, September 11th (that’s this Friday!) Mother/Father will take the stage with Luna Halo, Social Ghost, and Kink Ador. Full details for the show are on the tour page here: Mother/Father with Luna Halo.

Beyond this we’ve got more announcements we’ll post shortly-as soon as they’re more concrete (and if you do a little poking around, you may be able to jump the gun, and find some kind of exciting news). So make sure you’re signed up for The Light Thieves (our newsletter) and subscribed to the RSS feed for this blog, because we just may do some exclusive promos through these channels.

The Official Mother/Father Website Is Finally Here

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Welcome to the brand new official Mother/Father website. It’s taken us a little while to dream this up and put this together, but we’ve finally managed to roll out what we intend to be the official home base on the web for the band. We appreciate Jeff Schuette at Elemint for lending his expertise in brainstorming, designing, coding, and launching this project.

Some of you may be subscribers to Light/Thieves, the monthly Mother/Father email newsletter. If so you’re probably familiar with how we conduct things as far as authoring blog posts, emails, and other general discussions online goes. But for those that aren’t familiar with our approach, I’ll go through it here:

You of course expect to hear directly from the four members of the band (James, Willie, Matt, and Dave). Each band member intends to publish plenty of blog posts, sharing ideas, joining in discussions, etc with you. But there will also be a significant amount of time when you will be hearing from stinson, and some of the other members of the management equation (like right now). We feel it’s important to disclose this, so that when someone outside the four members of the band posts content here, you won’t be confused about what’s going on. We don’t want you to feel like we’re misrepresenting ourselves to you. Just know that if it’s not James, Willie, Matt, or Dave posting, then it’s someone that has something to do with the management team. We’ll also always let you know who is chiming in every time we make a post, just so we’re extra efficient. And when someone who you have never heard from before posts something, we’ll try to make a proper introduction.

So hopefully that’s all clear. If it’s not, feel free to leave a comment with any questions, concerns, ideas, suggestions, thoughts, etc. You can also hit the Contact page and tell us about it.

Once again, welcome to the new home on the web for Mother/Father. We’re glad to have you around, and hope you like the site. Take a look around and let us know what you think. We’ve already got some ideas for more content/features to build into the site. Make sure you’re both subscribed to the RSS feed for this blog (click the little button in the address bar of your browser), and signed up for Light/Thieves, our newsletter. This way you’re the first to know about our new developments as they happen, as well as being able to grab any special promotions we may do exclusively through these two channels.

Stay tuned. Back with more news in just a matter of moments…
